Little Stories

"Luma"

Chapter 1
Here is a tiny creature with a very long name, but everyone calls her Luma. The latest version of a nickname received when the old people thought her kind glowed in the dark. Which they don't.

She is an advisor to the queen and sometimes the king in a country normally knee-deep in snow. Born to a race of wise little things she has relatives who advise other monarchs as well, and thus has grown quite powerful.

Chapter 2
Riding on rare shoulders, secure in her nest of amber and fur, she whispers advise filled with secrets.

Chapter 3
As Luma is small and wise and strange and charming, she is often invited along in the evenings to the decadent productions attended by the royal family. Her days, however, are normally filled with difficult books and her queen's intrigues.

Chapter 4
Trusted children quietly attend and wait nearby. As Luma's kind has no arms, their small fingers keep her looking proper. They brush and braid her long red hair, which otherwise tangles badly as she inches along. They tuck it up inside her red felt crown, with it's seven silver rings for luck.

Chapter 5
Luma is in love with a garbage collector. He is smart and lovely, and she watches him from above as he works calmly in his own thoughts. She is filled with deep love and complicated  feelings for many things. But, as her life is led among giants and strangers, she believes she will always be rather lonely.
